The three tracks of this short album were inspired by the 1981 iconic record “My life in the bush of ghost” by Brian Eno and David Byrne which integrated sampled vocals, found sounds and African and Middle Eastern rhythms to provide a “vision of psychedelic Africa”.
The pieces took as a starting point field recording from Mombasa, on the East coast of Kenya, made in 2012 during the month of Ramadan.
By combining radio recordings, urban soundscapes and rhythmic textures the works aim to provide an outsider’s view of contemporary African culture.
